Back to the moving leg.....

OK, this blog thing is very new to me! I didn't finish my posting and touched the wrong button, so let me finish with the "moving leg" story!
Peggy-san unknowingly to herself, lifted that left leg! It had been just a laying there, as usual, and after we had a little talk to it and a rub down........by golly, the flacid thing raised straight up into the air! The 2 nurses were in the room and we all just shreiked with joy!! They were very happy and said this is the beginning of a speedy recovery! Peggy-san just smiled and said,
"I gotta' do it"!
Her brother in Japan called and is sending a care package.........hmmmm??? I don't think
sushi travels well.....

Blue Nails & a moving leg

Erica polished Peggy-sans fingernails today, not pink, not coral but BLUE! Yes, that was her
choice! I must say, it looked rather vibrant......

Control Freeky Deeky

June 27th, 2009
A friend told me that stroke victims quite often say things that they don't mean,
and to just let it go..........
have you ever known me to "let it go?".........
OK, maybe this blog is gona' be my therapy! Well, anyway,
Peggy-san called me a "CONTROL FREAK".......
I've never heard that phrase from that little ladie's lips!
Is it her stroke talking or is it TRUE??? lol!
Gotta' love her!

View from the edge

June 26th, 2009
The realization has come to Peggy-san, "I am a mess!" It has been a long time since she has been hospitalized. This is not her favorite place to be, as much as she enjoys visiting with her primary physician, (whom by the way, told her that she was so healthy, she'll live to be 100!) he forgot to mention "stroking out"!
Today was a good day, rehab therapy turned into quite the workout. Peggy-san is not afraid
of a challenge, just afraid of letting people down. :(
The visitors poured in today-thank you so much! Sorry, if Peggy-san nodded out on you.
She is so tired due to the paralysis of her left side. It takes lots of energy and concentration
to maneuver around.
Peggy-san wants biscuits and gravy for breakfast.......sorry not on the menu!

Peggy-san Update

June 25th, 2009
First of all, my mother and I want to thank EVERYONE for their prayers and wonderful
words of encouragement! Friends like you are truly the best medicine!
Since entering the hospital June 23rd at 11pm, Peggy-san has made great progress!
The stroke has affected her left side, she has very little movement in her arm and leg.
Her speech is very good, just a little slurred and the left side of her face is a little droopy.
She has improved so much that she has been moved to the Rehab and is set up in a large
private room. Peggy-san is ready for company and some fun! Her "home" for the next couple of weeks in at St. Lukes on the Plaza, Blue elavator to the 8th floor, room 8403.
Friday the 26th, she will begin 3 hours of rehabilitation everyday, 7 days a week.
